 About Roger Purcell

Roger Purcell is the principal of Roger Purcell LLP. He worked for 14 years with the Securities and Investments Board and the Financial Services Authority, leaving in January 2002 to set up his own consultancy practice specialising in financial services and compliance.

For his last five years at the FSA he led the team responsible for supervising the Recognised Professional Bodies and developing the post N2 regulatory regime for professional firms. Before that he was Finance Director of the Securities and Investments Board and was responsible for controlling costs in a high profile environment of full public accountability. He developed the systems for charging fees to authorised firms and other bodies and also developed the rules of the Investors Compensation Scheme (which became the Financial Services Compensation Scheme).

Previously he worked in the financial services industry, where he spent 12 years with the Save & Prosper unit trust and life assurance group, initially in personal financial planning, later as chief financial officer.

He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He speaks at training courses and conferences and has appeared on radio and television. He is a past vice chairman of the Institute's Investment Business Committee.
